Coral names

This is a weird question, but what's the naming convention for corals? Some of these names are a trip, i.e. Grape Alien Eye, War Coral, Purple Death, and my favorite, Bazooka Joe

Corals like Bazooka Joe look like their name, but others really require some imagination. Does someone just give a coral a name and it catches on virally? Or is there an established process by which these crazy names are given?

Some corals have a name that reminds you of an item (i.e. Watermelon challice, superman monti, etc)

Some corals are named after the person who "released" them with a bit of a descriptive (i.e. Tubb's Blue Zoas)

Finally some corals have names just to name them to artificially increase the rarity or you have to take massive amounts of LSD to actually see what the hell they mean (i.e. most zoas fit this catagory!)

And some corals are named to poke fun at the ludicrous marketing names. For example, I named one of my acans "Wonko the Sane" and then had the hubris to put it on a magazine cover.
