Our mission

Coralvue Hydros x4

Hey all, I see that everyone usually goes to GHL or Apex, does anyone have any experience with the hydros system?

I like that it's not as pricey as the GHL or the Apex, and I figured it was time to get a controller.

Thanks!

Their Cheap WiFi power strip is a good deal as you can kinda use it stand alone like a HomeKit power strip, but the other stuff isn't much cheaper then an Apex. Base system is only $25 less then an Apex EL on BRS but it only has 4 power outlets. When you add another power strip, its more expensive, not less.

It comes with a bunch of unique ports you could DIY that the Apex is missing (variable inputs for example), so if you are a DIY person and can use those ports, it has some cool options but if you don't use them you are not saving any coin.

Once you start adding all the goodies you might want to each system either could become the best value, and you will need to figure out what goodies you would want to determine that.

If you have a plan for what you want the controller/monitor to do for you, that will help narrow it down.

Shit, realized I clicked on BRS and they just happen to be having a 85 dollar off sale today hence why the price was so CLOSE.... best get on that!

I have the x2. It’s pretty basic but good enough for me. Check out all the accessories for hydros system to decide it’s a good fit for you. i like the simplicity but...it is very limited on programming. I haven't really invest a lot of time to mess with it to be fair.

One thing that bugs me is i want to turn off my main pump when the feeder is on. Its not obvious how to do that. I'm sure there are workaround, but the main interface do not support this.

I have the following accessories

temp probe
rodi solenoid for ato top off
water level sensor for water mixing station
dosing pump ( new- not install yet)
2 wifi power strip
auto feeder

i max out on the connector for x2. I would love to add the leak detector but that imply i need to get an additional controller.

The biggest cons is the phone app can be glitchy at times. You can login from the website as the backup.

I am generally happy with it especially for the price i paid.
