Well, got back Sunday and most everything is ok...
I lost an orange torch colony that had arrived from LiveAquaria while I was gone. (My friend put it into the frag tank...) Unfortunately, that particular section the frag tank depended on the water flow from an Aquaclear filter which of course failed to restart when the power went out.
The other problem I found was that the fan I was using failed to come back on after the power outage. The fan uses psuedo electronic controls, so if you turn it off and on while it is plugged in, it remembers its settings, but in a complete power outage (or if you unplug the fan) it 'resets' itself, so the AC3 was unable to turn that fan back on. That fan has since been replaced with a simpler/larger one which uses a manual physical switch.
Some lessons for me:
1) Use appliances (fans) with simple mechanical switches
2) Be careful with devices that require siphons to start (Aquaclears + power outages are bad)
3) Don't have new shipments come in while you're away. (I didn't have much choice with this one, because Liveaquaria wouldn't hold my order longer)
4) Yes, everything will go wrong when you are away. (After two months of stable running with no incidents, during the four days that I was gone I had a power outage, a fan problem, a filter problem and a heat wave. Double sigh.)
Thanks to everyone on BAR for the help!
