CUC in the external overflow - a good idea?

My overflow is getting dirty, and I was wondering if it is a good (or bad) idea to have some clean up crew dedicted to this area? Would they go into the pipes and cause issues?

I think I might grow Xenia or rbta in my next build. But yeah no cuc.

Agree with what @Kensington Reefer said. I treat it like an algae scrubber. I let bubble algae build up then remove once a month, leaving a little behind to continue growing. Easy export.
