Custom tank experiences- Leemar, Glass cages....?

I'm looking to have a custom glass tank made and got quotes from Glasscages & Leemar. Tank would be relatively small; 27" x 20" x 18" w/ starfire front & ends. Does anyone have experience using either and if so how did it go? Glasscages is cheaper, but price isn't the only thing. I'm open to other tankmakers but haven't heard of any. I know there's the acrylic option, but I just can't convince myself that I'll be ok scraping and scratching the acrylic when coraline builds up.

I had my tank/stand/hood custom built by Leemar, they did a fantastic job both in build and transport. Dunno what details to go into other than they built the tank the way I asked, it looks great, and it has yet to explode. :)

The key to having any tank built though is KNOWING WHAT YOU WANT! You need to know whether you want unbraced, traditional bracing, eurobracing, whether you need/want holes in the bracing, holes for return or overflow, etc etc. If you leave some of these details "up to the builder" your preferences are going to be different than theirs, guaranteed.

LeeMar is top notch that is for sure. Locally I know The Aquarium showroom deals with them.

+100000 :)

thanks for the advice, Jeremy recommended LeeMar, and I also give his recommendation a lot of weight. I did get a quote from AS, the tank is on the expensive side, but I've learned not to skimp in this hobby since you regret it later.

I'm planning on going with AGE for my new tank and Derek at OT is going to help me. I've also heard really good things about LeeMar but I heard shipping could be expensive although LA isn't too far for pickup (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

The drive to LA and back is easy enough if your tank will fit in your car or truck. Plus you'd get to see all the cool LFS in LA/OC. :)

Be prepared to wait 6 - 8 months. They area horrible at meeting deadlines. Just google and you'll see.

Max had a custom job placed last summer and just now got it.

Isn't AGE in Texas? ;)
