Dang… Found a white nudi in my tank

Dang… sorry to see you going through this :(
It’s all good. It’s not like I was going to avoid all pests forever anyway, especially with my shoddy dip/quarantine practices.

I’m treating this as an excuse to set up a second, monti-only tank lol

Once the nudis are eradicated in the QT from the weekly dipping, I can use it as a frag tank while I wait for the fallow period to complete in the DT

Well make sure you tell the lady that a QT needs to be 40g or larger. Then the QT starts to slowly become the main tank lol

I also got MEN from frags I picked up at one of our swaps. Wiped out some killer pieces I had cooking. I was pissed for a while, but eventually got over it. Now coming to terms that no montis will ever go into my DTs unless they go through strict inspection, scrapes, and dips.

Pests are inevitable is what I am coming to terms with. Learning how to handle them, I see as part of the learning journey.

The member may have not even known they had them when they brought them. Eggs could have been on the frag and the dip would have done nothing.

I would hope folks wouldn't bring anything that they know is infected. Like folks that purposely bring "ultra" corals knowing they are sick and sneaking them through the check-in at swaps. Basically, that's how you start figuring out who not to get coral from in the future.

Sorry haven’t dealt with MEN yet!!! You have any pest eaters like coral banded shrimp or melanurus/canary ? In the middle of the night spotlight the montys and tank when they primarily are active which is where the coral band comes in handy since they hunt at night while wrasses sleep.. But still not a garrentee also Ive heard pyramid butterflys may help..Snails are a “MAJOR” egg transporter so scrub and scrape hard or QT Fyi
Good luck

Also anacropora can be predated upon as well? I’ll need to remove my goldenrod and other anacropora?
They definitely go for anacropora. FWIW they did not go for my bubblegum digitata. Just the anacropora and monti cap.

I had them on the glass months before they metastasized into a problem, fyi. That said, definitely take prompt action. They are a difficult enemy. It took about 6 weeks to really make sure they were gone. I stopped checking after 3-4 weeks once and they came back quickly. Been free for several months now.

They definitely eat my digis including bubblegum. I think they prefer other ones though.
