DBTC: Seeded Polyp Lab Genesis Rock

Darkxerox

Vice President
BOD
We have seeded Polyp Lab blocks to share within the club for starting new tanks or adding additional biodiversity to existing tanks. We're using DBTC to track lineage and people receiving blocks from donors should clean out used blocks to return to them afterwards for continued sharing. I just added Seeded Polyp Lab Genesis Rock to DBTC. More details on how we got here: https://www.bareefers.org/forum/threads/biome-sharing-seeding-candidates-needed.39134/

There are 2 frag(s) available right now.

This is great for all folks specially new reefers.. Thank you!

Just a thought, instead of cleaning (not sure if everyone understands what 'cleaning' the blocks actually mean) out used blocks, can we just have folks getting the seeded blocks, to replace them with new ones which can be seeded for sometime and shared with others later?

I'd agree. I'd just have someone buy a new set and swap out. Also, Maxspect nano bio blocks are the exact same thing and size as half the cost.

We went over a lot of these points in the last thread and at the BOD meeting, however this is meant to be club equipment which is why the club paid for and distributed the blocks. We choose the Polyp Lab ones because they don't degrade like lots of brands do and can be continually shared like a PAR meter or fish trap. You just have to rinse out the block, dry it out, and return it when you're done inoculating your tank.

We didn't add it to BARcode's equipment database because a) @yosemiteclimber is currently upgrading things to a new software platform and we didn't want to add any extra work and b) this way you know who your source of bacteria/grunge is from.

The Maxspect ones are made of the same material. I have 15+ of them running in various tanks for 3+ years.
