I have seen it in person. It is very near where I grew up. It is really an amazing feat of engineering. The story behind it is pretty cool too.
Try digging anywhere in South Florida. within a few feet you either hit water or solid coral rock or both.

bah... "studied magnetic theory..." "aligned himself with the poles to negate gravity..." uhhh every place on earth is "aligned with the poles, it's a consequence of having a spherical shape for a planet!

Ah the scientific skeptic.
He did it somehow. I was pretty skeptical too until I saw it in person. You have to wonder how he did it if nothing else.

Well I'm sure he did it somehow, but saying "because he aligned it with the poles" is along the lines of the explanations given at "Mystery Spots"

Im sure theres a very logical method involved based on a clever use of mathematics and physics. But just because it can be explained through science doesn't mean that its still not a mystery.
Id love to know how he did it.
Reminds me of the mysterious Baalbek ruins. Where 2000 ton stone blocks are carved out, moved miles from the quary site to the construction area and are used not only as foundation blocks but for elements on top of thier structures! Even modern cranes would have great difficulty moving these things.

Why do these news items get ruined by them interviewing dumb----- who spout their theories of how he did it. He was obviously a clever engineer who liked to do whimsical things. There are pictures in the article where he's setting up cranes and pulley systems so why do people start talking about "magnetics" and levitation for pete's sake.
Like that coral door though... I can't even stop my kitchen door from sticking in the winter.
