I recently had to upgrade my electric lines at home. My previous contractors electrician left one hell of a mess in a subpanel that controls half of my house.

While I know how to change a socket or switch, I leave the heavy stuff like circuits and panels to licensed electricians.

For those who havnt seen my build thread, this is what was found when removing the old panel to add a 15 amp circuit:

I was referred to Volt Techs INC. Out of San Jose. I gave Jose a call and he was at my house the same day for a diagnosis and a quote.

He pointed out all that was wrong and walked me through options in making things safe.

This is his work and how it turned out after:

He was able to eliminate the junction box and clean everything up. Even patched up the wall when all was finished.

While that helped as a whole house solution, my tank was lit and running while he worked on our new subpanel. It became a conversation piece and I told him that I may have some friends that need electric work done.

For us reefers, we all know how important power is to our setups and how much of a load a full setup can put on a home.

Jose mentioned that for any reefers looking to add a separate, dedicated, circuit (15 or 20 amp), add new plugs, run electrical lines, etc., he'd do so at a special rate for us.

I normally am very cautious about referring people that do work for me, because when things go south my name is on the line. Jose offers a 5 year warranty on all of his work and is a legit licensed electrician, so it gives me peace of mind in putting this out there.

They also offer services for solar and EV charging if needed.

I may have to give him a call. Got a couple electrical projects that have been on my to-do list for a long time, but starting to accept that I just don't have time and should just hire someone. Including running another dedicated line for the tank. Thanks for the reference!
 
Knowing how OCD and organized your tank build is I'm looking forward to having an electrician that meets your standards lol.

I just talked to Jose about some projects I have in mind. He's coming out on Saturday to check everything out. Thanks to @finalphaze987 referral there is no fee for him to come do an estimate, most other companies charge $50+ to make the drive. Great impression so far! Will keep everyone updated.

Very useful to know he’s willing to come up to our neck of the woods from San Jose. When I originally saw the post by @finalphaze987 I thought to myself, that’s great. For South Bay people.

I never ran electrical lines before, but after watching them do it solidified that it's not something I wanna do nor learn lol. Im too big to get into a crawalspace or attic..Hats off to you for knowing how to do it...

Good to hear you were able schedule it. He does really good work and I'm sure people here will find him to be a great guy. His work is pretty meticulous and is persistent in doing things correctly and safely.

When doing my house he gave me options, made suggestions, was accommodating with scheduling, and very respectful to the house and family when on-site and while communicating.

That in itself is enough for me to return as a customer. My MBTI is ENFP, so big on the energy I recieve from those around me.

I think Maya Angelou said it best "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel"

They take jobs through all of NorCal and he has a team of people for his jobs. Hopefully this benefits some of the members out in the central valley and up North.

When asking around for suggestions for an electrician, those I spoke to all said "I know a guy..." If all works out for the people here, we'll, now WE all know a guy...
 
It’s me your resident electrician. I’ll gladly answer questions but with a 2 year old and a 6 year old I don’t have time for extra work.

Very assuring to know that we have one on here. Thank you for leaning in. And regarding how busy it can get with kids, I totally feel you. The good news is when they get around 17-18 years old your time will start to free up...if they're boys..if you got a daughter, free time comes in spurts..lol

Hopefully I catch you around and meet one day, till then, it's good to know that we got someone who speaks our reefer language that we can ask questions about electrical to.

100% agreed...honestly, any skilled trade... electrician, plumber, construction..finding good ones IME is seemingly harder due to demand.

Although our hobby entails learning some basics of each trade, we pale in comparison to anyone who does it as a profession. That's why I'll never complain about the price I'm given. It doesn't matter how many DIY youtube videos are out there..I steer clear of high voltage and pipes that could flood my house

Same. I upgraded my electrical service but we paid someone to do the solar because I’m not taking liability for messing up the roof.

It was impossible to find someone online, everyone’s a middle man. Finally I saw someone in my neighborhood getting solar I just pulled over and talked to the crew and got a direct quote and it was easily 25% cheaper. That was Kingdom Solar based out of the South Bay.
