No leaks and it's silent!!!

Looking good and very clean plumbing job. I like the fact you don't have that in tank overflow curve partition wall like mine has. Something I will definitely consider in my my next tank. It definitely takes away some otherwise useable space.

Are you going with or without a tank cover?

What lights are you planning for?

Sps, mixed reef, or other?

I'm looking into a custom acrylic lid. Definitely need a lid. For lights I'm going with a 4 bulb t5 aquatic life hybrid with 2 g5 Xr15 blues and a XR 30 gen 4.

Replaced all the hardware on the stand and repainted it. Moved everything inside and hopefully I'll have it wet sometime this week.

Have you used the Caribsea Fiji Pink before? I originally had it on my Red Sea Max E 170 and it was my biggest regret. Even with just one MP10 in the tank set at low flow I’d always end up with sand dunes. Maybe mixing it with the crushed coral will make it better though

That's why I bought 20lbs of the other stuff too. Hopefully that on top will help with that.

Thanks. I'm really hoping that the two months the rocks were "cooking" for really helps jump start this tank.
I did same thing with my rock work in my main tank, it made a big difference imo never got crazy alage that way.

Your tank is Looking good. Is that your planned mounting height for the lights, or is that just until you get things dialed in?

Th magic is in the sand.
I keep hearing this a lot. I even read somewhere someone mentioned their frag tank didn’t finally stabilize until they added sand. I feel like I’m missing something in my current frag tank. I’m considering doing a “shallow reef” instead of a frag tank with the new build since I’ll have 18”H now instead of 10”. Curious to see how Eric cooking his rock beforehand affects the ugly phase. Will be following alone to see the progress

Think it’s possibly to do a shallow hybrid type of reef frag tank? Never thought of it until you mentioned it just now.

Why don't you just have the sand in the sump of your frag tank?

Hmm good point… I guess benefits would be the same if it was in the sump or the tank? I actually never thought about that lol. This is why you’re the VP. Ive heard some stuff about miracle mud as well in the sump? I’ll start my own build thread soon and ask for opinions that way I don’t derail your build thread too much

I have biobmedia in the sump on my 65gallon, crushed coral in the tank itself. Do you think sand or crush coral is just as effective in a sump verse the display? This is something I never consider doing either. Your comment has me thinking about it though.

With sand you can not beat the biomass. Surface area is just so great. It will buffer all your mistakes and mishaps in the early stages of reef development. That’s why the sand is magic.

I was just talking about with something like a barebottom frag tank.
