Filter

I won another aquarium at the BAR meeting today. It didn't come with a built-in filter or lights like I usually get, so I need to get a filter and lights. I was thinking a HOB filter, but I want something that is good a removing crap from the water. Since it is a small tank I'd want a filter that filters 100gph. The canopy size is 14 1/4" and I want some suggestion on the type of lights and. If anybody could give me a link to a site that sells what I'm looking for that would be great.
THANKS!

I've read that Sea Grasses have higher lighting needs than other macros. I think 4 watts per gallon so 32 watts full spectrum lighting, just something to keep in mind when you set up your new tank. And congrats on winning :)

How big is the tank?
A know many people who use sponge filters when they're keeping seahorses.

I think it is an 8 gallon since it has a piece of construction paper on the back of the tank that has the number 8 on it. It looks about 8 gallons to me. I don't want to spend a lot on the lights, but hopefully $50 at the absolute most. I need something that I can attach to the canopy. Where can I get something about 20-40 watts of PC lighting?

HOB filter like a Penguin Bio-wheel or a Matrix with some LR rubble, and a simple screw in (mogul) PC bulb would be enough for a low demand reef with seahorses.

OK. But what should I do for the lights? I've never installed an entire lighting system a tank before. Where do I buy the light system and what type of lights would be recommended?

For the filter I got you covered, have a Marineland not using, can bring to BayMAC; still don't know what time I'll be there since have to take my family places during the morning.
LMK if you have use for it.
I can check also for a light but don't think I have something that small. Send me the dimension of the widest area.

Mario

This is the light for my fuge.
A 26 watt power compact (pc) bulb from ace hardware and an old ceiling can wired with a zip cord plugged in to a timer.

Thanks! I'll be at the BAYMAC at about 30 minutes before it starts so that I can shop in the aquarium showroom.
The dimensions of the area the lighting system is supposed to be put into is 3" tall, 14" long, and 6" back. I'll try and take a picture to put up later.

I found a light that will work and I ordered it from an LFS. It should be here on Wednesday but I'll pick it up Saturday. It will have 18w or 36w of some sort of lighting. Lighting isn't really concerning me much since I'm only going to be growing plants in the tank. Anyways, It recently occurred to me I need cooling fans for the tank. Where should I get those and how do I install them? Also, does anybody have a black tank stand 15"x15" or bigger I could buy? I need a cheap stand. I don't care if it has a cabinet or not, just something that will hold up the tank.
THANKS!
