Are you IN or OUT?!

The LPS one will be impossible to judge, IMO, because nobody has had any meaningful growth. I think there are 3-4 of us with similar progress on the SPS one.

What if we extend it another few months? Would make both contests more interesting IMO.

Yeah. I agree with you. I have no reservations extending both. That also allows me time to coordinate with @Bruce Spiegelman for the prize packages.

Anybody else opposed to extending it?

Only photo I had from October but it's still encrusting. The tort was shading it a ton until I fragged it back:

Mine unfortunately died in my frag tank. I'm not sure if it was the high nutrients I had for a bit, too close proximity to a monti cap, or something else completely.

My other acros in that tank are turning into colonies over the same period, so I'm unsure what happened.

A little update for everyone. Unfortunately, it has come to our attention, that what was handed out as BC Adam Bomb, is not that. After many conversations with folks outside of BAR, including Adam from Battle Coral, and considerations from the BOD, I have removed the name BC Adam Bomb from the contest. What we all likely have is called PC Rainbow but there is no certainty to that. Some of us are not in agreement to this identification, but that is the consistent ID I was receiving using multiple images from different tanks for reference. This will continue as only a generic SPS.

@Arvin R is already aware of this change, since he has been kind enough to keep and grow some of this to give out to the club.

@under_water_ninja Please be advised of this change with your current colony/frags.

Boy my apologies to everybody. I try very hard to keep track of every coral but sometimes things slip through the cracks.

Here are the confirmed pictures of the Adam Bomb as received from BC:

In my notes, the only other coral in that area of the tank that could possibly look like this that I have noted down would be something that I received as "BC Wonder Melon", also from Battlecorals:

This is the coral in question:

In my notes I've got PC Rainbow as having never actually made it into the tank, once it died on a frag rack and once it died in QT, so I don't think that is possible.

I've gone through every single picture I took of the tank and unfortunately I don't think any of them can help narrow it down beyond this information. Going through my SPS log, here is every acro I've got listed as being in this section of the tank (some of which died and won't be pictured):
- BC Lemon Peel (nope)
- BC Aquatic-Man Table (can be seen in the picture right below the coral in question)
- Green Planet Acro (nope)
- CC Disney Jr (nope)
- BC Adam Bomb
- Reverse Sky Parade (nope)
- BC Sky Doppel (nope)
- BC Wonder Melon
- Cali Tort (nope)
- Poison Envy (nope, can be seen in picture)
- SCOP (nope, can be seen in picture)
- BC Rainbow Melon (I don't think so)

Don't even worry about it - doesn't matter one bit! We are still having fun with the contest and appreciate you sharing all of the coral.

All good sir, your level of note taking makes me wanna do better. My list only includes what i got at one time. Not what died or where it was in the tank. I'm not surenif everyone keeps notes like that, but I'm impressed. Thanks again for your contrbutions to the club.

My current system is:
- Photograph the corals when they arrive with their name and where it came from (this also serves to timestamp it)
- Log the corals into a spreadsheet with the arrival date and source
- Then when the corals are ready to be placed, I note which section of the tank I put them in (I have broken the tank into 12 sections). I can also reference the initial entry photos to tell exactly which is which in case I'm unsure based on the shape.

I think in the future I will also photograph the corals once I place them just to give me another reference point. Given what happened here, I probably placed the Adam Bomb and the "Wonder Melon" close together, and then either the Adam Bomb died or the "Wonder Melon" overgrew it and I didn't notice, and then I just assumed that coral was the Adam Bomb. There were some situations where a coral was dying in one part of the tank so I'd frag it and move it to another part just to give it another chance, and it is possible I did that with another coral and didn't note it. I don't think that is likely but it's possible.

The mistake I made in the prior iteration of the tank was completely underestimating how much room you need to give the corals to grow. When the tank is very sparse it is easy to want to put them close together, but in the future I'm really going to give them even more space, which should make them easier to tell apart.

I would like to close out this contest before the end of the year please. At this time, the only contestants still in it are:
@Darkxerox @derek_SR @Invictus & @Reservetank

If any of you would like to bow out, now is the time to do so.

Submit your final image here in the next couple weeks. I will work on making a collage of your images for judging. I will also post the collage here for all the members to view.

Thanks everyone that participated throughout the year! It's been fun to see the progress throughout the months. Get ready for the 2025 growout contests!
