Free Coral!!

This thing has to go. Thought I’d offer it up here first before I toss it. Came in on a frag of another coral about 6 months ago or so. It’s between 8” and 9” wide now. Pick up in Oakley or Martinez.

I’m guessing some sort of xenia coral but I’m not really sure. Definitely not a leather though. It’s a very hardy coral and it grows super fast.

I'm just scared that it looks like a tree version of Anthelia. Has it sent babies around the tank?

Nothing yet. There are a couple of small divisions at the base though. You can't really see them in the pics. I will try to post some close up pics tonight when I get home.

Good to know. A quick search revealed another way to propagate - should be a cool coral for us in a shallow tank where we can keep track of it.

Lots of excitement (and expletives - students brought back a lot of habits and behaviors the staff did not expect). Most pressing question so far is Why is this coral mostly smooth and slimy looking, but one side is very bumpy?
