Freshwater Tank Waterfalls

Wow! I know some of you are into freshwater tanks. I have no knowledge of that but saw a video of an amazing in-tank “waterfall” and an Instructable explaining the basics:

I have seen these videos a few times, but I wonder how well it would sustain. Planted tank has decent amount of flow and that would blow the sand all over the place.

Might be a lot of fun in a low flow fuge.
You could do it with GFO and make a black waterfall.

That looks like a fun project for sure. You could do all sorts of interesting things such as put this in the corner of your tank and then place ultra thin acrylic in front of it to reduce flow from interfering with the sand. I bet course aragonite would work well.

You could also do it like lava and a volcano.

If you didn’t want the bubbles you could probably use a small weak pump?

Someone with DIY skills should try to do this in a reef tank and let us know lol

I have seen this in past as well. Infact if I recall correctly theres a aquascape that involves floating rocks (like the ones they showed in avatar) along with this sand based water falls. Epic.
