Gabe's 100 Gallon Tank

I figure I should make a tank journal. I'll start with all the equipment and tank info here and then later add pictures.

The tank is a CDA rimless 105gallon (I just call it 100 gallon) and has a trigger saphire 34 sump. The overflow is a 16" shadow overflow.

Equipment:
- Return: COR-20
- Skimmer: Magus Curve 7
- Marine pure in sump
- H380 fuge light growing chaeto
- Usually run carbon
- Newest apex controller
- Neptune ATK for ATO
- Neptune DOS for dosing
- Gyre XF280 for flow

Lighting:
- AP700 in middle
- 2 x A160 (One on each side)
- H380 fuge light growing chaeto

Current stocking (as of 3/24)
- 1 Chalk Basslet
- 1 Springer Damsel
- 2 Flurry clownfish
- 1 Bengaii Cardinal (who will only eat frozen food  )
- 1 Fire shrimp
- 2 cleaner shrimp
- assorted hermits and snails
- 2 bubble tip anemones

Coral:
Mixed reef with an assortment of softies, LPS, and starting to get into SPS right now. I'll let the pictures mainly show off this section.

Maintenance:
- 20% weekly water changes

I also run a 20gallon QT system. I picked up 2 fish yesterday, a Chromis and a flasher wrasse. The wrasse unfortunately began to show symptoms of velvet so I am currently running copper in that tank. After these fish go into the DT I will then get a tang or 2 and be done with stocking.

Let me know if I am forgetting anything...

Just the pics!
No gfo?

I haven’t ran any GFO at all. The way I see it, the fuge acts as my nutrient control. I have read online that the GFO can starve the fuge, but I am not really sure, I’d love to hear more opinions and if youd recommend. I have had some minimal algae but really not much. I have some odd strands coming off my rocks and my back wall and some algae but that’s it.

It Is possible to starve chaeto, but I believe chaeto uses nitrates more than phosphates, so you can wind up with somebody phosphates eventually. Just don’t use too much. Have you tested phosphates at all? I wouldn’t add gfo without testing first.

I have the high level salifert kit so it isn’t very useful because the phosphate is too low to really register. I’ll need to get the low level kit.

I had a 120 gallon that had a 48” x 30” footprint and I ran 2 ap700’s on it. I never thought it was overkill though. I thought it was just adequate.

Yeah it’s a lot but it’s nice. What sorta corals do you have and do you have any coverage issues?
Lot's of encrusting monti's ~ 18" under, growing really well, pretty big piece of pocillopora that's spreading all over, Purple Stag Acro doing great, candy cane, various blastos, huge clam, plenty of shrooms and some softies for the clowns.

Time for some pics. Sorry it took so long just never got around to it.
