Garibaldi, myth or true?

Anyone have experience with Garibaldi? Are they as mean as people say? Can they be kept in a reek tank? Do they move rocks?
Any info greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

They hail from cooler waters for the most part, as Jeremy already mentioned.
Aren't these illegal to keep or collect without a permit?
California's state fish!

My lfs has one that's very bright orange, tank temp is way to high (78-80) for this fish. Guess I'll have to pass on this. Thanks for all the input.

The Garibaldi available for sale are collected in Baja California. They can withstand higher temperatures, but need huge amounts of algae to eat, grow really large, and are very aggressive. It is really fun to snorkel with them in the La Jolla Cove.

It is true they are collected in Baja, but, the are collected on the western side (pacific ocean side) in Magdalena Bay. Mag Bay isn't swim suit swimming. Girabaldi do not enter the Sea of Cortez for the most part.
