This is the growth tracking thread. All participants will upload their pictures to this thread.

This contest is a friendly competition to see whose tank and husbandry techniques can grow corals the fastest. The TWO people with the most growth at the end of the contest will win a prize.

  • Name: Alveopora
  • Colors:
    • Green tip with purple base
  • Origin: Aquatic Collection about a year ago from @The_Lazy_Reefer

How does this Contest Work?
  1. Pick up from @The_Lazy_Reefer in Oakland or Aquatic Collection in Hayward. It is your responsibility to set this up.
  2. Post a picture of your frag ONCE a month before the 7th of each month and the number of total polypsor you are disqualified. First picture is when you receive the coral. This will count for your Feb 2020 submission.
    • Everyone gets 1 Cheat Month where they can miss a picture submission.
  3. On July 8 2020, the two people with the most number of NEW GROWTH polyps are the winners.
TWO Prizes
  1. A 50$ Gift Card to any Local Fish Store
  2. A 20$ Gift Card to any Local Fish Store
Rules
  • If you don't post a picture of the frag at least once a month, you are disqualified.
    • Everyone gets 1 Cheat Month
  • The Winners must write a summary of his or her experience with the coral i.e. conditions kept, learning lessons, etc.
  • Judges reserve the right to change these rules if needed.

For everyone involved I’ll be in union city tomorrow morning for the board meeting at 11am and can bring these with me for pickup if that’s easier than driving to Oakland. I’ll also be stopping at AC after the meeting but I’m unsure of a tentative time on that.
 
Well over the weeks these frags have healed and grew well. I tried counting polyps today before handing a few of them off and honestly once it’s over 20-30+ polyps it certainly becomes hard to count. But upon receiving please count them up as well and see if your number is close to the one printed on the top of the container.
 
Received my frag today. Top of container said 45 and I counted 47 "polyp tunnels?". Here are my pictures...Good luck everyone!

Btw these corals look absolutely gross closed up kinda like worms coming out of a hole[emoji2961][emoji2961][emoji2961]

My container said 50. I lost count right around there... so 50+ :)

Sadly, in the process of putting this into my tank, i knowcked over my rock work. Not i have euphyllia and branching monti frags... doh!
