Today I noticed that there are a bunch of mini / baby polyps in between the larger ones....almost impossible to count

My alves grow quickly but polyps tend to stay short... probably cuz of flow...

This is the growth tracking thread. All participants will upload their pictures to this thread.

This contest is a friendly competition to see whose tank and husbandry techniques can grow corals the fastest. The TWO people with the most growth at the end of the contest will win a prize.

How does this Contest Work?

1. Pick up from @The_Lazy_Reefer in Oakland or Aquatic Collection in Hayward. It is your responsibility to set this up.
2. Post a picture of your frag ONCE a month before the 7th of each month and the number of total polypsor you are disqualified. First picture is when you receive the coral. This will count for your Feb 2020 submission.
   • Everyone gets 1 Cheat Month where they can miss a picture submission.
3. On July 8 2020, the two people with the most number of NEW GROWTH polyps are the winners.

TWO Prizes

1. A 50$ Gift Card to any Local Fish Store
2. A 20$ Gift Card to any Local Fish Store

• If you don't post a picture of the frag at least once a month, you are disqualified.
  • Everyone gets 1 Cheat Month
• The Winners must write a summary of his or her experience with the coral i.e. conditions kept, learning lessons, etc.
• Judges reserve the right to change these rules if needed.

Based on my rough count i have 60 on the backside, and 59 on the front side... so 119 total, i started with about 1/2 that

A lot of new small polyps came in

Easiet way I found is to piss it off so polyolps retract, take front and back shots and then count the spots...

Not perfect but a pretty close approximation...

Sorry, school has been very busy. I updated the original post. You need to post your polyp count and picture monthly. @The_Lazy_Reefer did you record the polyp counts before dispersing the frags to people? @MolaMola @MarAquatic @Twisted You did not post for March so your cheat month is gone. If the updated chart is not correct, please post here so I can update it.

I might run another contest in May/June if there is interest and a coral available.

Sorry I was lame and did not mind the deadline or get an accurate initial count. I accept DQ but would like to participate for the comparison.
Our group counted poorly with range of 38-70 initial polyps! I would say 65 at the start.
Recent photos show now at least 80. I counted by lining up the pink marks. I missed getting a pic of the back part of frag.

I dont think I will be running another contest. People commit to the contest but too many bow out. We are at April 6 and not a single photo this month.

Has to be like 10 to 20 new polyps this month, definitely not a slow grower! It started out a bit bigger than my goniopora and now it's easily twice as big when extended. I'm going to have to find another spot for it soon! How is it growing for everyone else? I didn't think it would be as fast of a grower, definitely a much better coral for a beginner than a goni.

I'm thinking people are potentially distracted by the pandemic, schools being closed, people being out of work.

It blew up and is now growing onto the Fragrack and is stuck. Amazing amount of heads

As of today I count approx 226 polyp holes around the entire base. Pictures with counts attached. Three sides...

75+83+68=226

I'm at 195 approximately. Missing one side of the count but close enough for this month

So it's +76 from last month
