GROW-OUT CONTEST: Alveopora

This contest is a friendly competition to see whose tank and husbandry techniques can grow corals the fastest. The TWO people with the most growth at the end of the contest will win a prize.

How do I join the Contest?

1. Post in this thread if you want to be in the contest
2. If we have more than 7 people interested, we will choose the participants using a random number generator.
3. On Jan 12, 2020 we will start picking the people and accepting payment via paypal
4. Cost= $20 per Frag for Supporting Members
5. Frags are encrusted on a frag plug and healed since late Nov 2019

They will be given out at RANDOM.

How does this Contest Work?

1. Pick up from @The_Lazy_Reefer in Oakland or Aquatic Collection in Hayward. It is your responsibility to set this up.
2. Post a picture of your frag ONCE a month before the 7th of each month or you are disqualified. First picture is when you receive the coral. This will count for your Feb 2020 submission.
   • Everyone gets 1 Cheat Month where they can miss a picture submission.
3. On July 8 2020, the two people with the most number of NEW GROWTH polyps are the winners.

TWO Prizes

1. A 50$ Gift Card to any Local Fish Store
2. A 20$ Gift Card to any Local Fish Store

Rules

• If you don't post a picture of the frag at least once a month, you are disqualified.
  • Everyone gets 1 Cheat Month
• The Winners must write a summary of his or her experience with the coral i.e. conditions kept, learning lessons, etc.
• Judges reserve the right to change these rules if needed.

I think it’s ok to frag it. The contest is to see how many additional polyps you can grow. If fragging it gets better growth, this would be interesting to learn from. @The_Lazy_Reefer @Flagg37

I think it’s ok to frag it. The contest is to see how many additional polyps you can grow. If fragging it gets better growth, this would be interesting to learn from. @The_Lazy_Reefer @Flagg37

Once the frags healed the growth remained similar so unsure if it was beneficial for growth but it sure took the fragging process well.
