Help identifying a coral

If the mouths are round, or look similar to dots, then they are probably zoanthids. If the mouth has a more slit-like shape, it is probably a palythoa.

I disagree with your ID methodology. Both have nearly identical mouth structures typically.

mmm, it's not the only thing I use to tell the difference between the two, however yes, the shape of the mouth does vary :)

After looking at your picture more though, I'd have to agree with Gresh -zoanthids.

I thought zoas are short and usually smaller, and palys are larger with longer stems??????
I am NOT trying to correct anyone, I would be the last to say I know more that anyone else, haven't been at it to long, I'm just saying what Ive been told. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

jeremy that is still in Modesto

IIRC stalk length can vary a lot due to the environmental stimulus (or lack thereof) -a lot of flow, very little flow, tons of light, barely enough light, etc.

this coral seems to have a single skirt and long stalk. I do have others Zoas with short stalk and double skirts. But this one is the only single skirt and long stalk.
I am about to name it myself

Thanks a lot Anthony for your help.
The korallia nano is doing a great job.
Now that I know the name I can offer a frag on DBTC

 where do you guys come up with these ID protocols? I have dozens of Zoas with green mouths.
