Hi,
I am posting this on behalf of another person. They have had this blue tang for 2 years. For the past few months it has developed these black marks on the blue sections.
What is it? Any help would be appreciated

Those Vermetidae Snails in the tank can cause lacerations that look similar if the fish is rubbing on them.. Have him crank the white lights up and take better zoomed in pics..Hope it's not HLLE.. Are those scars from healed wounds or current open wounds?

90 gallon tank, only emerald entree frozen food
Emerald is fairly low in fats plus mostly land based veggies.. Not good as a sole food only need to mix it up otherwise will have issues down the road.. Their are several types of HLLE so hard to get a conclusion on that one pic..The tail is pretty messed up? Any new aggressive fish added recently?

I will try to get a picture of the whole tank from that person. In the tank there is a flame angel (has same issue with HLLE) and a diamond watchman goby. They have all been in there for 6 months+

I would assume poor water conditions and diet
Without a lot of details I’ve got no real advice besides several large water changes and improved diet.
I like algae based pellets in an autofeeder and frozen mysis as a foundation of a decent diet
