Help tangs has developed spots

You can try bleaching it
I thought about it at first, but not willing to put another tank at risk (especially the fish I had the longest). I would eventually need another for frag tank anyway even if the curve 5 was somehow made safe and used on the 40gallon. So I would prefer find one without the serious risk of contamination.

Sorry about your fishes. I would run the skimmer in Citric Acid, sun dry for a few days.

So to ensure I don't do anything utterly stupid. Posted what I found from a google search below. I also saw several articles from other fourms saying similar.

Just to be clear, I wasn't planning to use the skimmer on one of my existing tanks with fish.

However The 40gallon Tank I have gotten to replace my current main tank biocube32. The 40 gallon actually includes a sump (one of the main reasons I wanted a different tank over the biocube32 for better filtration over the biocube32. ) it my hopes that will allow me to finally get Po4 lower than .8 and with luck help sps color up more in addtion to adding better lighting.

The 40gallon doesn't have a skimmer currently. The frag tank has a curve 5 skimmer.

I also have a Eshopps S-150 protein skimmer that I used in the stock tank.

I also have a redsea rsk 300 skimmer. That I originally thought that one would be large enough for the 210gallon tank. After research I found out that both of those options would be way undersized for a 210gallon gallon tank. Unless I possibly used both at the same time?
Not sure if that would work or be pretty dumb? Still looking out for a larger skimmer.

I mentioned that to say I wouldn't consider using the eshopps one same as I wouldn't risk using the curve 5 skimmer from frag tank, on the 40gallon cube.

Would the redsea rsk 300 skimmer be too crazy over powered for a 50gallon system?

Based on this search it seems safest not to use the skimmers from either of these tanks.

So any recommendations on a skimmer I should consider to be on the look out for?

I want something that's at least decent hopefully used, but not opposed to a brand new one. I'm not inclined to spend a few hundred bucks on one either.

So open to leads on a used one, a new one at decent price.

I figured if i leave the ones in affected systems alone for several weeks no fish etc like i intend with the tanks themselves they should be safe to use again at some point in time?
The rsk 300 skimmer should be ok for 50 gal, i have used it for a lower water volume.

I’m a fan of run what you got. I’ve ran dual skimmer for years before. It will get you by until you find a deal on a bigger one. I have a bunch of large skimmer bodies if you want one. But the magic is in the pump and Venturi. Which I don’t have.

Yea I just wasn't sure if 2 skimmers could even work together, more just a idea i had on my own. I wouldn't be opposed to one of your skimmer bodies. It would come down to identifing the type of skimmer it is the venture/ pump needed and availability of said parts. ""Only potential issue is something very old or so obsucure that there're aren't many available parts at present.

However I've always been pretty favorbale to used equipment where it makes sense. so I'm very familiar with hunting down parts lol. So I'm open to it assuming the replacement parts can be identified and sourced from somewhere.

Ich dies after being in a dry environment after around 48 hours. If you leave it out for a few days to completely dry, you'll be fine.

Just to clarify, most of the evidence points towards velvet, not ich, so follow the cleaning protocols for that. Bobby at Humblefish has this as his protocol if you plan on reusing anything soon:

For the tank/equipment:

Wipe the tank and all equipment down using a 10:1 water:bleach solution.

Allow everything to dry thoroughly for at least 72 hours. Running a fan will expedite the drying process.

For the sand/rock:

Ditch the sand, it's not worth trying to sterilize.
The rock needs to be soaked in a 10:1 water:bleach solution for at least 24 hrs.

Afterwards, take all the rock out and rinse it off using a garden hose.

Finally, soak the rock again using RODI and a dechlorinator (e.g. Prime, Amquel) to remove any excess chlorine/chloramine that leaches out.
Let the rock air dry for 72 hrs and it's good to go. Even if it still has a "bleachy" smell to it, that's just the leftover salt from the chlorine.

This is my frag tank full of coral. Zoas, leathers, shrooms. So i thought someone mentioned leaving tank fish free for a length of time. Than it would die on it's own?

If this isn’t the case and bleach is only way I assume it means getting rid of everything in the tank?

I honestly don't plan to risk my other two tanks from using anything with these two tanks.

Loosing 2 tanks of fish regardless of the cause is enough for me.
