How much for a transmission?

sfboarders(John) let me know if you ever need any GM parts or anything .No mark up! :)

Ohh, I need a new drivers side mirror. Actually....... I like the Muth signal mirrors better. :D Personally for a 99 truck I would not recommend going to a dealership. That transmission will be worth more than your actual vehicle! Myself I was not gonna spend money for a transmission thats 1/3 price of my vehicle.

@ Gresham it's brakes not breaks:D

Sure you want to start the spell check on me? Its a vicious circle and one I don't give up on :) Ask Tony ;)

And they are breaks when the'z broke ;)

Almost sounds like a "well known Company" that custom made a sump for me and fused the paper in all the seams and still shipped it to me on my dime. Sticker crooked and all. What I get" We're sorry Sir can YOU bring it to use we'll see what we can do. Wouldn't use them or recomend them again."They only made it a rush fix because I mentioned posting pictures on RC . So the moral is everyone makes mistakes its how you fix them. :)

Comparing a tank being built to a faulty car repair job like happened to me is a huge difference. What happened to me could have easily caused an accident on a road highly known for having horrible accidents. Sorry but that is just no comparison.

Unless the Tank Failure cause a electrical fire in the downstairs Condo at night when they where sleeping and your on vacation. Because they don't have GFIs in their outlets. Seen it. Life is life no matter who or how its lost, it's tragic.
Glad you finally found a good mechanic .
Now lets hope He does.

I call BS. You have seen some one die from their tank creating a fire? You know how common that is? Surely no where near as common as a car mechanical issue creating an accident and people dying. Again, truly no comparison. (notice I am talking loss of life and not loss of property?)

Those last few posts, and previous venting on shoddy workmanship, remind me of a fun problem.
I had a sunroom installed a couple years back, done very poorly.
In the first rain, I had water coming out of one of the electrical plugs.
Turns out they did not seal the outside light, and it ran in there, down the conduit, and out the plug.
Moderate drips, not a flood, but a still scary.

Dealer quality strongly depends on the brand. I had a Honda (an 88 Honda no less) that I took to Honda sf and the treated me well. I bought an Audi and went to Royal Motors and was treated like crap.

My suggestion is to yelp your brand of vehicle and go from there. Find a shop that has done the repair you need many times and has good reviews. You don't want to be the first one, I've been there and paying someone to learn how to fix your car isn't fun.

Also is this a manual or automatic? If it's manual I agree that it's likely just the clutch, which should be quite a bit cheaper to replace. If it's an automatic have you checked the ATF lately?
