How often do you clean your skimmer?

I Clean my cup and neck out every 7-10 days with my water changes. I have a HOB skimmer still so I have to clean my entire skimmer once a month or so since the pipe from the tank can get some serious gunk growing in it. I have sump plans in the works but I'm trying to decide if I should change my tank out at the same time so I don't have to worry about HOB pumbing.

I try not to spill - I don't wait till the cup is completely full - I just empty it out when it half to 3/4 of the way full.

I know if I were to put a drain on the collection cup, I just wouldn't clean it like I should.

Been my experience in the past. Mine isn't hooked up to any buckets this time, nor do I have it planned for my next system.
