Hello BAR!
Today I have decided to begin journaling my tank, as it is the beginning of a new decade and I find it appropriate! I also would love for any advice on any improvements that you all would see fit!
This is my tank at around 1 month in...
As you can see I had only two ocellated clowns and some turbos, with an anemone hiding in the back The first 3 months in this hobby taught me a lot on the basics on keeping a fish alive. I had had freshwater fish tanks before, and have had good luck with them in the past. But from this tank I have learned the importance of PATIENCE and RESEARCH! Those two clowns died within two weeks from ich which I then replaced the void with a Scopus Tang (don’t laugh it was an impulse buy that I would soon regret) which also does from ich. After these deaths I was stuck between the choice of purchasing new rock and sand and completely started over or wait for a while and let the Ichs life cycle die off. So I waited around 10 weeks to buy another fish and instead began to buy coral from both my LFS and some friends. After 10 weeks my tank now looks like this:
So after those two trials, my friend Twisted, recommended me Rapid Fish Quarantine, as I don’t have the money or space to devote an entire tank towards quarantine. So I used it on a mated pair of Marion Clowns and they have been loving my tank! And so after the 10 weeks of simply building up my coral inventory, learning that I have to clean my filter sock, and realizing that coral are better than fish, I now have begun to understand why people have been in the hobby for 10+ years!
