Is it ok to put a smal scopas tang in a 40b?

The only tang I would consider for a tank that size, is possibly a baby tomini tang they max out at 4-6.inches, and not a fully grown one.

A scopus tang maxes out at 12 inches and can be as agressive as other similar tangs of it's size. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do it. Avoid the scopus tang.

Use snails, hermits, and urchins for alage control. In addtion to filtration and lighting schedule managment. Tangs help in larger systems yet tangs don't do miricles for a neglected tank.

Snails and hermits etc will probably always be the best option for any tank size. Adding larger fish will increase alage not take it away. They eat more and produce more waste. That extra waste feeds the alage issues.

Have you considered becoming a supporting member? We are a great club and a popular saying is if you support the club the club will support you as well. Best $30 you could ever spend in this hobby. We often go out of our way to help out our supporting members.

How about you post a few tank shots and while you consider that, also make a tank journal?

Lay out your current setup, future plans, and maybe how you would like to eventually see your tank. With more information you would likely be able to get much better advice.
