Just putting it out there

So I'm still ashamed of my full set up so that's why I haven't posted any journals or threads about my tank. It's been running for 8 months. And here are some face shots I took if a few coral in my tank. And then full body shots so u can ID. All photos are took with my iPhone 6. No editing. And shot in white light only.

Hope u enjoy!!

Surprisingly sharp iphone pictures! Youre doing great! I like that yellow gorgonian!!!

I don't see any dead fish or melting corals. What's to be ashamed of? Corals I do see look happy.
Keep on keeping on!
Feed the fish and corals, and do water changes large enough to make an impact

Thanks for all the support you guys it means a lot. My dirty little Secret is that I'm a " no sump chump" I have 2 over kill hang on the back filters , a big 2 gallon DIY canister filter and 2 remora 30 gallon skimmers. I know the way I'm doing it is frowned a pawn so I'm hesitant do to criticism. So far everything is healthy and happy. one acan grew 15 new heads in only 3 months. SPS is slow growth and I can only grow easy to keep SPS. And so far the canister has not been a nitrate trap. It's actual really clean every time because the hang on the back get the grunt on the mess canister does most of the polishing. Only coral issue I have is browning and I thing that's do to lighting? I'm not sure. 2 18" t5 and I'm not sure the spectrum.

Your corals look happy. Awesome yellow gorg, I had a pretty good sized piece back in the day I got from Golden Basket which survived through a lot of stuff, surprisingly very hardy piece.

Thank u for all the support!! And yes no sump club we should start a thread for no sumps and see how many people actually run no sump and see what they use for filtration and then compare notes.

Corals are looking good, and love the gorgonian! My 25 gallon, which I had for a year, didn't have a sump, but my current tank does. The main thing I like about the sump is having a central place to put most of the life support so it's easy to remove and clean when needed. The one thing I had to pay attention to with no sump was making sure surface water was turned over enough to keep an oily sheen from forming on the surface.

On another note, I'm pretty sure I have the same type of giant green fuzzy mushrooms you have. I like them, but they get big when they're happy - like 5" across or even more - and will spread, covering other things. What I'm now doing for mushrooms in general is putting them on their own rock to make them easier to manage.

Looking forward to seeing more in the future!

What is the negatives to the oily sheen?? How is it bad for the tank? Sometimes I get the sheen but for the most part I have enough flow to turn that sheen around.

Some people say it interferes with gas exchange at the surface, which makes sense to me. But that's the stuff I assume a skimmer, or other filtration - even if that filtration is bacteria in the sand and rock - should be removing. I guess I looked at it as more of a symptom that I needed to check that my crappy internal skimmer was working as it should... If it doesn't stick around for long, you're probably fine. Mine would be there for a day or two before I started messing with stuff.

I know what you're saying about the sheen. My few zoas that have will close up if it builds up.
I have a few nano tanks that run on HOB only and I have a hard time keeping things balance so lately I have been adding Chemipure and that helps a lot

I love having a sump but have had many successful tanks without sumps. It's definitely more of a nice to have than a necessity. Keep up the good work. The corals are looking great, and like everyone has mentioned, cool Gorgonian!

I've had it for four months they're really easy to keep just make sure it's a photosynthetic. Non-photosynthetic you have to feed them a lot.
