Got the sump filled and checked the levels with pump on and off....Herbie drain is running nice and quiet....About to drop in some Dr Tim's One and Only to get the cycle started!!!

Dang, that plumbing looks complex. Good job.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the dr tims one and only, only accelerates the cycle but does not start it. You need a source of ammonia to start it.

Is it still OK to start with a fresh shrimp or two....Or are the drops better?
 
Shrimp is still fine. I prefer the drops because I can dose it to however much ammonia I want it to have. With the shrimp you get what you get. You can fish them out when it reaches your desired amount but that's just more work.
 
I am in South SJ, but already went to get the ammonia from ACE...Already put in the one and only this morning...Will dose the ammonia tonight
