Lab Cooling/Heating Baths........Replace chiller and heater

I saw these water temp baths on ebay when i was looking for my Cole Parmer pump. They looked cool, but didn't know much about them. Saw a couple pop up locally. How effecient are these for heating and cooling tanks? It seems like it would work. They seem significantly cheaper than aquarium specific chillers. Anyone???????????????

My current chiller has 10"x12" cylinder that the water circulates thru. I can't imagine these hold any less water than that. Circulation would be your only issue.

It would be like trying to use an ice cube to chill a swimming pool :) Just not going to happen.

I guess i just don't understand the concept of these lab type of baths. Chillers are just recirculating pumps that run water across cooling elements. How do these baths differ in the way they displace the heat?

Lab chillers have a built in pump and are likely not meant for saltwater use (corrosion). The 1-2g reservoir part is a non issue.
