Neptune Aquatics

Looking for thoughts on substrate/ canopies

Also its okay to have shadows and dark areas..If I was put in a pen outside in the hot sun with no umbrella or pergola with a few rocks to circle around all day hmmm!
Sometimes its nice to sacrifice real estate to mimic natural reef structures that have shade all around so fish can hide/ chill.. All my tangs/ rabbits can disappear in a second completely out of site if stressed like ocean reefs as you dive/motor over . Will that small baby fish fit in the same shadow area or cave when xxx the size in a couple years without pancaking flat in a crack!! If your coral colonies are large and fish can chill under more power to ya! But majority don’t grow them that big and takes time! Not saying at all this method is better then any others but will definitely limit types of corals in areas especially sps you may wana grow..Spent many years spear fishing in the keys and our local waters plus abalone diving seeing first hand how fish relate to cover/ shade is my take on how my tanks are structured or adapted as things grow
Those floating reef aquascapes are amazing maybe some day!! ..I do like the look of NSA negative space aquascapes so maybe will attempt on the up coming budget build what else can you toss in a cookie jar..
I also have several of those older kessils which still work good. Its nice to have many options with the equipment in hand which also can be confusing lol so like members have mentioned start with the kiss method then adapt!!
