Manual soda ash dosing

For my 55g I need to increase the alkalinity about 3 dKh. I don’t have a dosing system for that tank an yesterday, when I poured 10ml of soda ash solution, there were a lot of white particles. Is there a way to do some kind of siphon drip that will do about 60 ml slowly over 3-4 days?

Just a thought... can you measure how much each drop from say an airline tube and make a knot to adjust the frequency of drops?

You can get a setup like what is used for drip acclimation. Or just do it manually little by little. It seems pretty weird for you to get a lot of precipitation from 10ml. Did you do it in a high flow area? What is your current alkalinity level?

Yes, I poured into a high flow area. The alk got down to 5.4 (I know, I know, this is a softie/nem tank that’s not tested often). I added 30 ml yesterday which should raise it to 6.4. But I’d like to raise it 2 more a bit slower.

Get a syringe and just squirt a little in each time you pass the tank?

Considered that, but it might precipitate there leaving residue. It does seem like a good way to do it though.

Way too much work I’d rather spend hours thinking of a way to not work.

I DIY’d this for dosing ALK each night. Each night I put in the appropriate dose and it slowly drips over a 12+hr period. I have a small pump under this so the solution gets mixed.
