I think mixing salts is unnecessary. Just change 10-15% at a time with new salt.

Changing that small amount even with alk at 12 with a new salt at alk of 8 will only swing the alk of the tank by 0.4-0.5.

Just don’t go changing 50% of the water.

I didn't put anything in but IORC for the first 8-10 months with softies and LPS. I was testing alk weekly and it wasn't until 8-10 months in before I stopped being able to maintain Alk with WC. I think I picked up several SPS just before that...Montis and Birdsnests which both grow quickly. So, I'm not sure if the LPS got big enough or the intro of SPS....but either way it surprised me how little LPS and softies consumed before that.

I will try that when I start switching salts, I will send out a ICP test today to check parameters. My frogspawn is on its last head that is why I start to dose.
