Hello Everyone,

We live in Walnut Creek and setup the 26G RS Max Nano Peninsula tank in the picture only end of August 2022, but have since learned a lot (and partially experienced) about the hobby (and what can go wrong). Big learning was that we should have gone with a larger tank and dedicated sump which would make our life potentially easier. The current plan is still to stay with this tank for the next 2 years and then upgrade.

Our current challenges are Dinos (potentially), some limited Aiptasia, no success with hard corals, low PH, and issues with proper water flow.

Looking forward to connect with others through this forum and in person.

Some details around our setup:
  • Red Sea Max Nano Peninsula
  • Two MP10s
  • Kalkwasser (150-300ml per day)
  • Replaced ATO
  • APC Battery Backup
  • Inkbird Temperature controller
  • Neptune PH and Temperature monitor
  • Milwaukee PH controller
  • CO2 scrubber (Bulk Reef Supply)
  • Fishes: Two clowns, Tail Spot Blenny, Randall Goby, Pygmy Angel, Purple Fire Fish,
  • Invertebrates: Cleaner shrimp, Pistol Shrimp, Strawberry conch, turbos (Mexican, Zebra), Hermit Crabs, Trochus Snails. Pending 3 peppermint shrimp week of Jan 16.
  • Corals (not all ID available): Montipora, Ricordea, Paradise Bridsnest, Palythoa, Xenia, Pocillopora, Zoanthis (two), various others
  • Tisbee pods from Algae Barns (two jars) - additional 4 jars of galaxy pods week of Jan 16.
  • Live Phytoplankton (1/2 teaspoon per day)
  • Feed 5 different types of frozen food over the course of five days, and one day various pellet food//flakes/dry food.
  • 25 g carbon Red Sea

Water parameters as of Jan 13, 2023:
  • PH 7.9 - 8.1 (due to reduced lighting fighting Dinos) / Neptune + Milwaukee PH
  • Alkalinity 9.8 (Hanna)
  • Salinity 35 PPT (Milwaukee Refractometer)
  • Nitrate 9.6 ppm (Hanna)
  • Phosphate 0.1 (Hanna)
  • Calcium 476 (Hanna)
  • Magnesium 1450 (Salifert)
