Noob coralline algae question

Sorry for the total noob question, but do you have to introduce coralline algae to grow it? Or does it come from the air like other algae?

It will come naturally over time, but it doesn’t hurt to seed some in your tank to get the process going a bit faster. That’s what I did in my tank

It should come on frags/live rock/etc you get from other tanks. So it needs to be introduced, but it's really hard to *not* introduce it.

[mention]Hamada [/mention] gave me a old snail shell covered in it. I smashed that up with a hammer and sprinkled it like candy all over my tank

Nice! I’ll probably take that route when I’m cycled and ready to turn on the lights.
