Peter's 40G Journey

@Srt4eric
was it noisy for you? On a scale 1-10, what would you rate the noise level?
because honesty the noise might actually be normal maybe I am just not used to it, Since I never had a sump with big equipments before.

Because it only has a single durso style drain you'll never get it silent. If you extend the tailpiece of the drain under the water level it would quiet it down a bit.

Loc-line :1 - Peter:0

Thank you @Srt4eric for giving me two random flow generator.
So I took off the locline and soak it hot water, then I was able to pop out the duckbill easily. So I was super happy thinking putting the RFG in should be a breeze. Boy am I wrong, it took ever oz of my strength and I can't seem to pop it in... I even soak the RFG in hot water and the locline in cold water.
So after spend an hour I give up haha, does anyone in the SF area have the 1/2" locline tool? I can bring it over and see if you can do a quick pop in for me.

Woooot!!!
All the equipments are working flawlessly!! Thanks @Srt4eric
So far no leaks that I should be concerning. Only the drain pipe is leaking small drips back to the sump, that's because I didn't glue it, so is normal.

Now please help a newbie out... Why do my tank sound like heavy rainfall? Is it because I didn't adjust the water flow in the drain to match the water being pump? Or is that actually normal?
Since i got the same tank, first one is make sure the water in the sump goes up to where the pipes are in sump, that fixes some of the noise, second one is in the top of your tank, i have a tiny piece of airline tubing that stopped all the sound that came from the water as it goes though the overflow.

Hopefully that fixes your waterfall sound, then the only sound you have to deal with is the vibration from your return (some are better than others) and the fans from your lights =)

Wonderful tip, I will try that see how it goes. I am glad we have the same tank, now I can bug you hahah Thank you

Finally finished the cover lid. Is ugly... I know, hopefully it serves it's purpose. I could not use the spline for the rail because gutter was too shallow to hold net and spline in place, so zip tie it is...

Finally finish the leak test, after lots of stairs and 5 gallon jugs again. Finally filled the tank with RODI water and dump the salt in. The most annoying part, wire management is next...

Look up stockman standpipe since you're dealing with a single drain. I ran one for awhile and it made a noticeable difference noise-wise.

OMG Soo much work and so messy... Is definitely a spiderweb in the back regradless how much I want to organize the wiring.
I just notice how many equipments I put together for this setup. Soo many plugs....
I can't believed I spent the whole day doing just this.
