Quite pumps?

Darts are great :)

9.5's have a flaw IMO. The impellers shatter often and they seem to run hotter then the rest. I know someone (Jake) testing all the pumps from many different aspects and thermal transfer is one of the areas he's jumping into. I think he's run a ton of tests, we'll have to get him back out to speak at BAR :)

I replaced a loud Iwaki external with an Eheim 1262 for sound reasons and I am VERY happy. I have a 70g with 1" bulkhead and probably could have gone with 1 size smaller. I too don't have a chiller, and haven't needed one. Eheim is the right way to go.

A friend of mine who is super knowledgeable about Eheim construction says you'll actually get more gph via the 1260 at height then the 1262 as the 1262 can't handle much head pressure. What's your experience.

I'm assuming Eheims are insump pumps?

They have external canisters, too. But, yes, the 1260 (and 1262) are insump.

No, Eheim pumps can be run external as well :) Like any pump like that though it can be a bit worrisome in the long run as they do rely on a little o-ring.

Same with the ones on skimmers like the Warner Marine ones :)
