RC shure becoming a reefer's craigslist...

Browsing for some equipment this is the answer I get.
Pay attention to the last statement.

"I will probably have to ship those in two separate boxes because of the weight of the pump and size of items. Based on this and recent shipping, box, etc to ship, it will be at least $20, if not more. I will go $10 on the shipping and eat the rest as long as, if you paypal, you paypal as a gift to avoid the paypal bs charges."

Does it smell like pure scamm or wait is it scum, anyway...

Hi Joel !!!

I just hope other people did not fall for that...
Seems quite some people have fallen for a few reefers on scams on RC and Paypal is more of an obstacle most cases since money is taken off checking accounts and PP assumes none or very little tiny-weeny liability.

Ugh, you don't want me to get started on some of those people who are selling things on RC..... I'll just keep it to myself... Yea but there can be an ahole every now and then...

Mario,

Not trying to say this guy is on the up and up at all but what he says about the fees vs. no fees is true. I noticed it myself with the club account as for some reason some people's membership payments were coming in with no fees vs. the usual .88 on the $20 payment. After doing a bit more research it appears that if you use the personal tab vs. the purchase tab, it does not charge fees.

Options on the personal tab are:
Gift
Payment Owed
Living Expense
Cash Advance
Other

Options on the purchase tab are:
Goods
Services
Ebay items

Hey when almost 5% of each person's dues payment, swap fees, etc goes to friggin paypal it becomes semi-material. Think of it this way if we have roughly 200 members that pay via paypal, that is $176 less that you get to spend on speakers etc.

I have to admit they have a great business going on. Take payments and charge a fee, get the float on the money transferred between acounts, and get the use of the money while people let the money sit in the account while paying a very nominal interest rate out.

Yup I know of the ways to pay but if you state as a gift is as good as saying "good bye money" There's no way you could fight PayPal or your bank if you say it was a "Gift"
"Payment Owed" would be more likely since you can state what you owe the money for on the message.
The small fee seems to be a PITA for lots of people and businesses; personally I don't mind paying the fee if I receive money since I'm using their service; it gives me more peace of mind; I got burned a couple times with PP, once the light I bought was expressed as new and was missing mounting knobs and a glass broken, it was not the original glass shield... long story short I still have the light but collecting dust. Charging someone on PP for the fee is not allowed to by PP rules but people still state "+3% PP fee"
At some point we all get a little cheap by not wanting to pay the little extra, like for instance Sales Tax ! "Ten out the door if you pay cash !!"
IMO if you state don't want to pay the PP BS charges in the way it was sent to me, is just a wide open door for a rip off; I was not even haggling with the shipping cost.

Yeah paypal basically does what all credit card companies do and charge a transaction fee, however getting a stop payment or a reversal due to fraud or some other tomfoolery is often a bit more difficult than with credit cards (although CCs can have their instances of fun to deal with as well).
