Red Sea replacing probes for free (ato)?

So the other day I got an error for the ato in that the temp component had failed. There was a link in the app that asked for shipping info and the HW serial number. So far they have not asked for payment.
Mine is at least 1 yr out of warranty.

ATO was still working though?

I had the same thing happen. I assumed it means they have a manufacturing issue and they're doing an incremental recall this way.

The process was incredibly easy though
 
Man, I hope this is not another red sea product failure like the seam failures in their tanks. I thought about getting one of these, but my tunze has been a workhorse for years. Good luck and I hope these work out.

I like that -at least it tells me when it fails
 
They sent me a new one with proof of purchase (receipt) no questions asked. They know they had a bad batch of probes going with some new units for a bit.

That is disappointing. I do not like the Tunze ATO everyone has been using for years, and which I run in the nano tank, but reliability is king. Coincidentally I ordered the Hydros ATO for my vacation backup ATO container and might try it as the main ATO reading these news, replacing the Red Sea.

Which one did you order? The new triple optical or the older water level sensor one?

Be interesting if the hydros is more reliable. It may actually help if I actually cleaned it. Suppose to put in vinegar every 3 months..
with the new one-may be more proactive in that respect and see if that helps

That is a good point actually. Need to add this to my maintenance schedule.
