Refugium on Tritton method. Yes or No

I am still working on my tank but planning to set up Tritton method in hope to reduce WC down the road.

This method requires large refugium. Anyone here successfully run Tritton method? Anyone run a separate refugium tank but plump it to the main sump?
Do you mind to share your experience?

Why a new tank would ever employ a macro algae refugium I’ll never understand

I do it all the time. In the setups I have done, it has helped keep the uglies to a minimum to non-existent - even starting from dry rock. But I'm also okay dosing nitrates or phosphates as needed if/when I bottom out. I'm also definitely aware though, I'm not of the norm on this topic. :p

Sure do
I try to run as large a fuge as possible
I can’t give quantitative analysis (I don’t perform water chemistry tests), but it makes me “feel” better.
I also do large water changes with NSW
I do feed my systems more than most

Also
Water changes are probably less expensive than the Triton

I am also a big refugium fan. I now use the balling method, which seems like it is similar to the triton method without the extensive icp tests. On my old system, I used red sea trace elements and 2 part with lots of success.
