RODI TDS Reading Recs

Hi all!

I just pulled out my old RODI filter and put it to use after about six months on the shelf. The reading on my TDS meter for the filtered water was 9.

Would love your thoughts on acceptable TDS levels (or is it always zero)

I always make sure mine reads 0. When I start seeing 1 I change out the media.

9 is definitely too high

0 TDS is ideal, why introduce variables to your tank. However, if you're in a pinch and need some emergency top off water or something you'd probably be fine. I wouldn't do it long term or make a big batch of saltwater with 9 TDS RODI.

Please give more details. Which specific filter are you talking about? Or are you referring to the whole unit? What specific filters do you have in use? How long did you let it run before testing TDS? Does your setup test in between segments or just at the end? What does your DI resin look like?

You want your final TDS to be 0. But for troubleshooting you need to get into the details.

TDS of 9 coming off the RO filter before DI resin isn’t bad if that’s what you meant. The DI resin will leach stuff back out when it sits (I believe) so you need to run a bunch of water through before knowing how it’s doing.
