sad morning...dont forget to cover your tanks

I woke up this morning to find my allardi pair, missing one of the pair - I looked frantically in the bare tank (they are in QT for Brook, etc.), and found the female dry, on the carpet. Last night, a friend had come to visit and I carelessly forgot to replace the cover to the tank. What a sad loss.

If anyone has a single Allardi, I would be interested in purchasing her, to pair back up with the male that I have. They were a beautiful pair, she will be missed.

Sorry to hear it. I've lost a few jumpers over the years too. My greatest loss was a gar that cruised my 120 fresh for a couple years He ate floating dry food which was unusual as they usually are picky eaters. . He flipped out of a 1" slot in the top cover. A thin but long fellow too, about 8" long. No one likes to lose livestock. :(

I'm a bit worried. I have some new Wrasses - Mystery, etc. If I were to screen them to prevent jumping, what would I use? I don't want to block the light.

I have three VERY jumpy firefish. They charge the surface when feeding BUT never break the surface..........wanna know why? 'Cause I hypnotize my fish and WILL them to stay below the surface. Call me nutty but it works......................"Look into my eyes"........ :|

Sorry to hear about your loss. I was just on vacation in Hawaii and my McCoskers wrasse decided to go carpet surfing. I will definitely be building a canopy for my tank upgrade so I can continue to keep wrasses because I think they're really cool fish. But I've lost a couple of them in the last year or so with an open top tank...
