Safe Crab?

Tore apart one of our nanos this morning and found a crab about the size of a quarter. Beigish body with an orange spot on the top of the body behind each eye. Very small claws, almost invisible. Legs black and beige striped. Sound familiar? Is it reef safe? Probably came with the tank when I got it, which was a reef tank then.

The tips of the claws tell the story, if the crab is predominately an algae eater it will have little cups at the tips, if the tips are pointed then it is mostly carnivorous. All crabs can cause some trouble, but the pointy tipped ones are worse.

From your description it sounds like a pom-pom crab but pom-pom crabs are white not beige. Is it about 1" or so?
