Sealing method from south of the border.

Came across on the forum down south what some people use to seal the inner of their stands.
Pretty simple. I don't know if it comes near to be called "Going Green"
They dissolve Styrofoam with Lacquer Thinner and apply it to the wood, let it dry and waterproof !!!

Oh yeah !

I found it to be interesting; the "Going Green" one person makes a comment on finding a use for Styrofoam.
Interesting to see what other people use.
I don't know how scarce proper products might me in Mexico but I bet regular sealers can be found just about any paint store.

The sealing method north of the border is a big club. You just wade right into the middle of the baby seals and SMACK SMACK SMACK!

Or so I've heard... >)

It does... and I won't go into further details here why I diesel is better

fun times!!!

Not at all... never played with the stuff.

Matches are bad, mmmkay

or so I was told at a very young age

I bet once it dries it not really any more flammable than a comparable sealer, but I really doubt it's much better on average.

Modern paint products are quite extensively researched and formulated, I think it would be hard to mix something on your own that competes. On the other side of the argument, a lot of old school paints are now illegal, so it is possible that there is some benefit in mixing your own. It may just be possible that some of the old products were "better" in regard to being more effective, but less "green." Regardless I would definitely want an scba and probably a full mask when mixing it up. Some of the old paints are illegal for quite good reasons including extreme hazard to the person applying them. Old lacquer paints actually had cyanide in them that would relase in the body over time.

If you play with chemicals know what's in them... Or at least don't breathe it.

Benzene is what you really want. :)

But agree, why mess around when the basic stuff at the hardware store is cheap enough, reliable, you know exactly
what it does and does not do, and is not horribly poisonous/illegal/etc.

Yeah, you dissolve styrofoam in gas you'll produce vinyl benzene, which does have toxic effects... not super duper toxic but enough to make you quite sick if you inhale enough of it

Diesel has very little benzene, while gasoline has 1% to 4% to raise octane.
But I bet diesel mixtures have toxic vapors as well.
