Seems like LPS is increasing in popularity!

LPS will continue to RE-increase in popularity as more and more fall prey to AEFW, monti nudi, red bugs, etc. Far less to worry with LPS, and they tend not to bleach on the drop of a dime :)

Just playing devil's advocate here, LPS don't get bugs, but you can loose a colony quickly if its neighbor decides it wants to send out sweepers, or if it becomes dislodged and tumbles down onto its downstairs neighbor. Each one has its pitfalls.

And SPS aren't just as aggressive? I've seen montis strip acros over night :) Heck, I just had a goni get nailed by a fallen monti :loL

[/quote]That's one tough Monti :D, seriously though, I have coral on top of coral on top of coral, and they all seem to get along ok. The battles don't seen to range beyond the borders, with LPS it's shock and awe ;D. Again, I'm just sayin they both have pitfalls, Acro pests do suck though.

I chatted with a couple of newbiew who were intimidated by keeping SPS because they only had PCs, so their thinking was they'd have to get the best LPS they could to get something cool. More beginners/ intermediates = less SPS picking. Also, I find it's a safer bet to pick the 1st coral as your favorite available LPS and it'll be more likely to not lose color than an SPS that could fade and leave you disappointed with your 1st round draft choice. :(

For me lps really isn't any easier to keep than sps. Some of my acans are much more sensitive than any of my acros. I think it is more or less a fad thing. Plus you really can't get some of the colors that you can get in LPS in SPS.

My first pick was actially Polish Sausage with Sourkraut, which made the swap awesome!

I did in fact choose an LPS as my first pick. Then I chose a Zoo (some watermelon thing that I probably had at some point, then lost) and Lap San was nice enough to pick a green toadstool and give it to me since he really only wanted a frogspawn (!!) as his only take-home!
Then we were into the "pick 3 frags" and I picked some daisy polyps (I know, lame, and possibly a stupid as putting GSP in a tank), some sort of leather and then a green birdsnest. So I picked all easy stuff. Then I didn't stay for the "free for all" because my baby-free time was coming to an end and I had to get home to pay the piper.

UP until like 5-6 years ago LPS where far more popular then SPS. IN fact, in this trade, LPS sell FAR more then SPS and always have. A bit more SPS have displaced some of the LPS imports since the 90's, but trust me, LPS imports are more then double the SPS imports :) There are way more normal reefers then hardcores :)

Also for me, SPS = brown, then white stick.
