I used to run a RDSB, but not sure if it ever helped. The pump feeding it died on me so I never set it back up... I heard that if you don't maintain it, it would do a lot more harm than good. I'll probably just leave that out.

Sand might look better... like jeremy, I'll definitely think about it ;)

Thats a complete misunderstanding. Its for denitrification and needs no maintenance. I have been running them for several years on both systems at omen (20 gallon tanks full of sand) and never do a thing to them.

thanks for the clarification rich. I'll probably just replace the pump and get it running again. Things inside probably dried up and died out, so I'll need to let that recycle a bit for a few weeks.
