I picked up a Kessil A360WE today and installed it over my tank. I have to say I'm REALLY happy with the color this thing has. My DIY LEDs are about 3 years old, and apparently the spectrum of LEDs has improved considerably. The Kessil really brings out subtle colors in the corals I didn't see before.
First a view of the Kessil mounted over the top:
I haven't decided if I'm going to keep with a glass top or go with open screening. The nice part about the glass top is it REALLY cut down on the evaporation (temps have never been an issue).
My poor birdsnest is taking a beating. The Challice has been doing a number on it. I am going to frag off chunks of it so I can re-seed it when the colony finally keels over.
These rics are my favorite change. With my old LEDs they were basically a solid pale blue. With the Kessil, there is so much more definition!
My next project is to get rid of all the eggcrate I used to keep the fish in the main area of the tank. I'm going to pick up some black acrylic from TAP plastics and build a proper front/back divider.
