So I’m now having the same issue. I haven’t changed my alk dosing and my test rose from 8 to 9.3.

I also prefer to calibrate from tank water after Salifert testing. I’ve done plenty of both and I just think it’s more reliable than using their included standard.
I recalibrate when the Alk number drifts away from my periodic manual testing, which happens at a variable rate. Sometimes a couple weeks, sometimes a few months. I mostly care about the Alk readings day to day, and luckily that seems to drift less than Ca and Mg for some reason. I let the Ca and especially Mg values drift and not worry about it much as long as the Alk is pretty accurate.
