Using activated carbon in reefs

Many of you probably know it but I learned a lot from this article:here

I think I'll start using carbon more actively, since I was using only in "emergency" situations.

The passive method works OK, this is purely anecdotal so take it with a gran of sand, but IME carbon long term in a tank can be detrimental. I much prefer to use it short term to polish water, it can get exhausted quickly.

I love the Bulk Reef Supply dual chamber GFO-Carbon reactor. I have one on my display and ordered another for Bonnie's tank.

I saw some at Neptune if you're looking for one.

I am convinced to get some activated carbon and place it in a bag in my sump.

That is what I do, someday I might try a reactor, but I am too lazy.....it easier for me to replace the bag.

Most of the lfs I talk to said, at first it gets exhausted quickly, so your first batch should be in there for about a week. Then after that you keep the following batches in for the month or w/e.
