High Tide Aquatics

Rostatos Reefer 450 and Reefer 170

Tank is still chugging along. My blue tang and Kole tang both have ich, maybe just maybe flukes. Typical. I’m sure my feedings with lots of Selcon soaked food will kick it.

My meat coral is looking a little bit better. So I will continue to dip it once a week until it looks normal again.

Damn man,you are a man of many talents..awesome job!

Tank is chugging along. Tangs are nearly cured of the ich. Gotta love selcon soaked nori and rods food.

My meat coral is looking a little better but I’ll update the separate thread on that.

Added a diffuser to my xr15

Hopefully my cepex valve rebuild kit comes in today so I can fix my leaky ball valves and get my alate scrubber hooked up.

Speaking of which, my nitrates are still only 2ppm and po4 is between .02 and .08 without it. But I am running like 10 TBSP of rowaphos.

Got my new custom ATO container in from plastic builders. Tuan also cut me a plate to hold my algae scrubber on top of the sump.

Not the final spot for the scrubber yet.

I have a two stage Ranco controller and let the Ranco handle the heaters on/off cycles. I leave my neotherms set to 80F. Ranco is set for 78F and stage one goes on with a differential of 1 degree and stage two goes on with a differential of 2 degrees. I only use apex as a fail safe to turn off if heater goes above 80F.

Might want to do fallback off for this. Although it's unlikely the other temp controller craps out at the same time apex goes on fritz.

you should switch out the diaphragm valve with a gate valve since you’re setting up everything and it’s dry. Diaphragm valve eventually gets fickle and requires adjusting all the time. I was fine for a couple years then it started acting up. You can get the return part (Red Sea part #42221) remove the threaded barb and glue with pvc primer and cement to a 32mm to 1” translation union.
Nice, here's an easy way I found to replace the red sea valve with a gate valve on the XXL 750.

Algae scrubber is starting a new c

Made our new “frag rock” today from an old piece of fiji shelf rock. Has 25 holes for frags.

I like that, it look so much nicer than typical frag racks. Did you use a specific bit for rock, or should the standard bits that come with most drills work?

Aha you mean replacing the gfo with the scrubber right?
Just start easy, I seen posts of folks starting scrubber and tanked their po4.

nope I mean reducing gfo. I’ll still need it. On the reefer 250 I ran a half dose of gfo and the scrubber to keep Nutrients at bay. This is the sane scrubber on a larger tank, so I assume I’ll still need both.

Got it. That's smart actually. I like the scrubber concept. Organic and natural way for nutrients control..
