Hans’ Coral Club Tank

I’m a high school teacher over in Alameda and I’ve started a Coral Club with 18 students. I really just want to be a guide and have the students get all the hands on experiences. The goal is to introduced them to the hobby and have them feel confident that they could start their own tank someday.

We are going to follow Ryan@SeriousReefs 90/10 tank build along with Serious Reefs 90/10 QT program.

I donated a used Red Sea Reefer 425XL to the club. I picked that up from BAR Tony for a great price. That’s the only item I’m going to purchase myself I’m donating a lot of reefing equipment that I have laying around my house. So if any BAR members would like to donate to the club please let me know.

Probably should list items that you need or corals / direction that the aquarium is going in. Pictures would be nice once in a while also.

Students ran a booth at Club Day in late September. We got 48 student sign-ups. Reality is we have a solid 18-20 active members. We’ve had two formal meetings and then members come in at lunch and after school to work.

Last week the students got the tank properly placed and leveled. They have cleaned the glass and acid soaked all the plumbing. Water tested the tank and sump. No leaks

What high school in Alameda? A lot of my basketball players are from Alameda. They should join the club for more playing time
